How to Refer?

The 22 Judicial District Court Veterans Court program is a court-supervised program coupled with intensive treatment and supervision for criminal offenders who are veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States as defined by law. Program requirements include court attendance, treatment, alcohol and drug testing, case management services, individual and group counseling and recovery support group meetings.

Veterans Court consists of a multidisciplinary team to include Judges, Case Managers, Probation/Parole officers, Veterans Health Administration, Treatment providers and Public Defenders. The team works together with the participant to help participants achieve total abstinence from drugs and/or alcohol, be diverted from prison or jail, and to have a more satisfying law-abiding life. The Veterans Court is designed to reduce re-arrests, promote self-sufficiency through employment and education and to help you remain in the community as a productive and responsible member of society.

Veterans can be referred to the program by Probation & Parole, attorneys and Judges. The District Attorney’s office makes the decision whether a veteran can come into the program and decisions are based on criminal history and military records.
