Civil and Criminal Court

The judges of Divisions A through J have jurisdiction over all matters. Civil and criminal cases are randomly assigned to the judges of these divisions with the exception of most family court matters and any matter involving a juvenile. The court calendar on this website will indicate the type of matter to be considered each particular day by each judge and where the judge will be located (St. Tammany or Washington Parish). The judges are profiled on this website and information concerning each judge’s physical location as well as contact information is included. Please note that specific case information can only be accessed through the Clerk of Court’s website. Docket information for any particular day is currently unavailable on-line.


Family Court

The Family Court divisions of the Twenty-Second Judicial District Court include Division “K” – Judge Oppenheim and Division “L” – Judge Amacker. These court divisions have jurisdiction over certain family court matters including divorce, child custody, child support, paternity, partition of property in connection with a matrimonial regime, protective order hearings and all types of adoption proceedings.

The Twenty-Second Judicial District Family Court uses hearing officers to provide expedited processing of all family court issues. Whenever a family court matter is filed, it is assigned to a hearing officer. The following frequently asked questions and answers provide you with the information needed to prepare for the hearing officer conference and, if necessary, a subsequent appearance before a family court judge.


Bond Court

Bond Court was established in 2001 to implement and track a drug screening program as a condition of bond pursuant to then Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure Article 336. See also Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure Article 320(E). In 2018, the court was awarded grant funds to expand the Bond Court in connection with a sequential intercept program designed to provide pretrial services to judicially involved citizens.


Misdemeanor Court

Misdemeanor Court is conducted at the St. Tammany Parish Justice Center and the Washington Parish Courthouse at least three times per month. All cases pending for non-felony charges are heard at this court. The Misdemeanor Courtroom in the St. Tammany Parish Justice Center is located on the first floor, Any bailiff can direct you to that courtroom. Misdemeanor Court at the Washington Parish Courthouse is assigned a courtroom depending on what other types of court are in session on the designated date. A sign in the lobby will direct you to Misdemeanor Court at the Washington Parish Courthouse or any bailiff can also direct you.
