Commissioner Dan Foil is the Commissioner of the Twenty – Second Judicial District Court of the State of Louisiana.

Washington Parish native Dan Foil was appointed Commissioner of the 22nd JDC on July 1, 2009. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from Louisiana State University. He has served as a felony investigator and Chief Criminal Deputy for the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and as an Assistant District Attorney and Assistant Public Defender for the 22nd JDC.

Greetings,

We presently have a procedure in place that establishes that all arrestees in St. Tammany and Washington Parish will have a bond set within 24 hours of their arrest, if they qualify.  The bond is set based on many factors which we feel are relevant to whether the arrestee has a high probability of appearing in court on their assigned court date, as well as the factors enumerated in Code of Criminal Procedure Art. 334 and other relevant statutes.  This includes the weekends and holidays.  Therefore, any attorney who has a client that has been arrested may find out what their client’s bond amount is by contacting the personnel at the Bond Office of the STPSO @ (985) 274-1070.  Please be patient because the booking procedure takes several hours to complete.

If you disagree with the bond that has been set or have information you feel I should be made aware of, please contact my office and my assistant will set up an appointment for us to meet in my office at the Courthouse.  I do not debate over the bond amounts.  If you disagree, then you can meet with me or file a motion to reduce to be considered by the trial judge.  DO NOT contact me after hours about matters that can be discussed during normal business hours.

If your client requires substance abuse or mental health treatment, you may contact my assistant and she will be glad to assist you with that and coordinate about the bond and treatment.  My assistant, Mancy, can be reached at (985) 809-5380 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Please direct all calls to my office before attempting to contact me.
